Michigan Theater tickets & upcoming events

Looking for a night out at one of Ann Arbor's coolest spots? The Michigan Theater isn’t just your average movie house. This historic gem has been a hub for film buffs and theater lovers alike since it opened its doors in 1928. Walking inside, you can’t help but get that nostalgic vibe, with its ornate architecture and vintage charm that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. They host everything from indie film screenings and film discussions led by visiting filmmakers to special events like the Ann Arbor Puppetry Festival, which honestly is a delight to watch, puppets and all. The theater also partners up with the University of Michigan, showcasing student films and projects, giving new talent a stage. Want to catch a concert or comedy show? The Michigan Theater offers a variety of events, and their seating chart helps you pick the perfect spot, from front-row seats to more budget-friendly options. Parking is a breeze with nearby structures, just a short walk across Liberty Street, but definitely use the crosswalks or you might end up doing a bit of a dance. They’ve even upgraded their audio system recently, so modern performances sound crisp and clear. Honestly, whether you’re into classic films, live performances, or just looking for a fun night out, this place is a must-visit. Trust me, it’s more than just a theater, it’s a community cornerstone, and catching a show here is always a good idea.
